Ostler’s Wassail is back again for 2026!

Join us for our tradition of blessing the orchard to ensure a good harvest for the coming year.
We will be welcoming back the legendary Nixie James Scott to do her beautiful blessing of the orchards. We have Borderline Morris Devon, who will be sure to get you all up and dancing again, and Hal Capone is returning to bring the fire to the Wassail.
We also have something new for you this year, singer-songwriter Emma Jones (aka MoFunker) (aka Emma Fuck!ng Jones) making her Ostler’s debut. Emma blends her raw emotion with eclectic sounds. Her music transforms personal survival into powerful anthems of resilience – unapologetic, vulnerable, unfiltered, and authentic.
Expect the usual Ostler’s hosting with food, a glass of cider, and all of the above for £15 a ticket! We will be running a bar again this year, with beverages made using our own organic apples. *Bring cash. Use it or lose it. *

ANNUAL WASSAIL FESTIVAL

Join us as we celebrate in “Wassailing”

WASSAIL

Here at Ostlers Cider Mill we take pride in celebrating Wassailing every January. We have local Morris Men, a good band who keeps us dancing all night, and of course plenty of cider! Our Wassail is held in the orchard here in North Devon; many locals and friends attend, we welcome everyone to come along, to enjoy and celebrate the apple trees!

Wassailing refers to drinking (and singing) the health of trees in the hopes that they might better thrive. The purpose of wassailing is to awake the cider apple trees and to scare away evil spirits to ensure a good harvest of fruit in the autumn.

An old rhyme goes:

Wassaile the trees, that they may beare

You many a Plum and many a Peare:

For more or lesse fruits they will bring,

As you do give them Wassailing.
